The Presence of God

God's presence among His people is the central theme in the topic of sanctuary. The Garden of Eden is the first 'sanctuary' where the presence of God is entered into by Eve and Adam. The sanctuary that Moses build as per the pattern provided by God is the avenue where the presence of God dwells with His people. Jesus himself is the presence of God among men and when He left after His death (ending the earthly sacrificial system), our bodies become the dwelling place of God's presence through His Spirit.
How wonderful to have a God who longs to dwell with His people.
Sadly, like the first couple,  we run away from the presence of God when we sin knowingly. We defile the temple of God with sexual immorality. We stuff up our body with unclean foods and habits. We pollute our mind with sensual thoughts. Hollywood takes daily precedence in our mind over Holy Word.

The greatest loss of the Fall was not the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. Rather, it was the loss of being in the immediate presence of God. Likewise, the greatest penalty for our disobedience on earth is not the 'fire prepared for the devil and his angels' but the loss of the opportunity to enter into God's holy presence in Heaven. It is the Presence of God that that makes us holy. When we lose it, we lose our holiness.

Do I feel the Presence of God in me? What practices do I currently do that dilute the scent of God's presence?

Ever in Your presence I pray,
Always in your presence each day.
This is my earnest desire
That I be found in the heat of your fire.

Be blessed.
